The Washington DC Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMIWDC) was formed to serve the networking and education needs of Washington DC metropolitan area residents, which includes Northern Virginia and Maryland.

With monthly meetings, professional development offerings (such as certification review courses), periodic workshops, and a monthly newsletter, the PMIWDC chapter strives to promote the profession of Project Management by and for its members, provide opportunities for project management education and the professional development of its members, and provide a framework for professional networking and social interaction among its members.

It’s Time to Prepare for 2009 Project of the Year Award Contest

Do You Want to Be Recognized as the Elite of the Elite?

PMI Award

CEOs and other officers whose projects receive the PMI® Project of the Year Award often acknowledge that this honor is among the achievements of which they are most proud. To be recognized among your peers as having managed "the project of projects" is an honor not just for the project manager and project team but for the organization as a whole.

It is also an excellent opportunity for communities to establish a relationship with a local organization that may have just completed a project that qualifies for the award. As a community leader, you could make project leaders aware of this opportunity to stand out. Encourage a nomination submission to the community for the first round of the contest. The deadline for submissions to the community is 26 January 2009.

Projects from throughout the world are encouraged to participate, regardless of size, industry type or location in the three tier contest. After holding a preliminary round of review, each community may submit one project to compete at the semifinalist level. The deadline for that level is 16 March 2009. The final level of competition begins in May.

Reviewers at both the semifinalist and finalist level are volunteers from around the world who have demonstrated project management expertise. The recipient of the PMI 2009 Project of the Year Award will be honored at the PMI® Global Congress 2009—North America, to take place 10-13 October in Orlando, Florida, USA.
